A large number of fans have launched a campaign to express the existing demand for a remastered version of Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Spearheaded by developers Christian Whitehead and Simon Thomley, the campaign is collecting signatures and sending letters to SEGA, encouraging the publisher to green light the remastered version. Currently, the campaign has amassed a total of 2,500 signatures.
Whitehead and Thomley both had a hand in the production of the remastered versions of Sonic CD, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Sonic the Hedgehog 2. They’e developed a prototype remastered version of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, adding in new features including additional bonus modes, wide screen display, and new visuals for iOS and Android. With the prototype, they hope to give SEGA a template upon which the rest of the remastered version can be built.
