Titanfall 2 Teaser Drops – Announcement Date, Mech Swords Revealed

Respawn has released a teaser for Titanfall 2, which states that a worldwide announcement for the game will be made on June 12, presumably at the new EA Play events. Also: there are mech swords.

The teaser is understandably light on details, showing only a slowly-opening drop pod, before we see the leg of a Titan, and then get the sharp electric drop of a freaking mech sword.

As was previously revealed, Titanfall 2 will see the addition of a much-requested feature, a full single player campaign, demonstrated by the portentous South African-accented voiceover. Respawn also appears to have delved into this writer’s dream requests by including that aforementioned mech sword.

Independence Day #1 Review

Independence Day isn’t fondly remembered 20 years later because of its complex story or deep characters, so the idea of publishing a spinoff comic in order to expand the mythology of the franchise seems a bit strange. But here we are. This mini-series aims to bridge the gap between the original film and the upcoming sequel. It’s also being billed by publisher Titan Comics as “a rich psychological prison drama,” which is just… bizarre. This first issue is content to merely deliver a healthy dose of “submarine vs. alien spacecraft” action, and at least the book delivers well enough on that front.

This comic revolves around the character Joshua Adams (played by William Fichtner in Independence Day: Resurgence) in the period immediately following the final battle in the original film. Adams is tasked to board a Navy submarine and investigate a sunken alien craft, and from there the action gets underway. Adams is about as bland a lead as you’d expect from someone with such a generic name. Adams’ only defining character trait is the fact that he’s afraid of water, making him a more boring version of Chief Brody from Jaws. The rest of the submarine crew are even more generic.

According to The Silicon Valley Business Journal, Apple in November 2015 quietly leased a 96,000-square-foot site in Sunnyvale, California which used to be Pepsi’s bottling plant. Interestingly enough, this industrial property is located in the neighborhood of a complex of warehouses and offices which Apple leased about a year ago for purposes unknown to the public (hint: […]
